Welcome To The 153rd Masterpiece Monday!

I'm sure you see a little bit of a difference? This little tree has served me well for several years. It cost 30 dollars from Walmart. Every year it looks a little Charlie Brownier though. But instead of spending money on a new one, I challenged myself  to make a go of it. I raided my stash of vintage pattern tissue and made another tree banner like the one I posted here. The idea was to make various sizes of tissue flowers to fill in the gaps and use my DIY banner and gold and silver mesh ribbon to fill in the rest.

Here's a pic of the tree before decorating it, with the paper flowers.

I decorated my metal fireplace "Old Rusty", with a seahorse advent calendar and sea angel swag. Last year I displayed the seahorses on a life preserver. This year I used my craft room bulletin board, framed with silver pipe cleaners and thumb tacks. A different Christmas scripture is written on the back of each tag.

I made my sea angel swag by cutting out the wings with a jigsaw and drilling holes to add string. After painting the wings, I gave them one a dusting of glitter.   The clothes pin angels are dressed in fabric scraps, with pipe cleaner halos.

  11. I actually like the way your tree has morphed into a more rustic looking tree. I've seen people smoosh the branches into layers and let the ornament hang in between and I love it too. I think you were very creative to put the flowers in for filler and your tree looks like you planned it that way! Good job.
